Sunday Speakeasy Blues

SwingDance UK presents Speakeasy Blues

What better way to finish your weekend than to chill out, relax and dance to an eclectic mix of great vintage and contemporary swing, Jazz and Blues.  DJ Mr Kicks and friends playing music from Duke Ellington and Billie Holiday to Muddy Waters and Diana Krall 7.15-11pm.

The evening kicks off with a Blues dance class with former American Blues dance champ Simon ‘Mr Kicks’ Selmon and Anna Lambrechts 7.15-8.15pm (no experience necessary or partner required).

£8 for class & dancing

£5 dancing only

Blues dancing is the slow dance done by Lindy Hoppers, it’s slower, fluid and highly rhythmic with expressive body movements.

Like the film Dirty Dancing, Blues is an 'after-hours' dance, often misunderstood as sexual or 'sleazy', in realty, Blues is about experiencing the full range of human emotion - love, passion, joy, sadness, pain.
There's no limit to the emotions this music can evoke in us, the real beauty of Blues is its focus on connection whether you're dancing with a partner or on your own, likewise no limit to where Blues can take you in your dancing!
